Greater Vancouver Food Bank x ReFeed Farms - Rethinking Food

Every year in Canada, $49 billion worth of food is wasted — while kids still go hungry in schools and 1 in 5 Canadians have experienced food insecurity over the last two years. We don’t have a food shortage problem. We have a broken food system.

This short film was created to highlight a real solution: the innovative partnership between the Greater Vancouver Food Bank and ReFeed Farms. My role was to lead the creative — from story development to production and post — and bring together the right team to tell the story well.

We shot almost entirely on 35mm film — the most natural format to tell a story about food, and the people working to change how we move it through the world. The result was both beautiful and grounded.

“The impact of ReThinking Food has been incredible – The response from my friends, colleagues and peers has been so very positive. On a personal note, it makes me emotional to watch it and realize I am a part of this solution. To work with such amazing people on something like this – Just wow! I will never forget it!”- David Long, CEO Greater Vancouver Food Bank
